Haltern am See has some wonderful picnic spots that are perfect for a relaxing break in the countryside. Popular spots include the lakeside area around the Haltern and Hullern reservoirs the Westruper Heide, the Haard forest area, the Stever river and the Mühlenbach stream. There you will find a beautiful view on the shore and plenty of space for a cozy picnic blanket. Many of these places also offer shady spots under trees and near playgrounds if you're out and about with the family. Don't forget to take a small bin bag with you to leave the area clean.
