Naturpark Hohe Mark e.V.
Valuable partners in nature conservation and sustainable tourism
The Hohe Mark Nature Park is located at the interface between Münsterland, the Lower Rhine and the northern Ruhr metropolis. Surrounded by a varied landscape of glacial sandstone hills, the Hohe Mark is an important nature reserve. The wooded mountain range is one of the largest contiguous forest areas north of the Ruhr metropolis and, apart from a few small settlements, is virtually uninhabited.
Haltern am See, which is idyllically situated in this natural area, plays an important role as a member and cooperation partner of Naturpark Hohe Mark e.V. The close and constructive cooperation between the town and the association contributes significantly to the further development of the nature park as a valuable recreational and nature conservation area. Haltern am See is therefore not only an ideal starting point for discovery tours, but also an active player in the protection and promotion of this unique natural area.
The Hohe Mark Nature Park offers numerous opportunities to experience green nature in the immediate vicinity of urban settlements. Here, visitors can immerse themselves undisturbed in the natural environment and access the adjacent nature reserve on well-maintained paths. The nature park covers an area of 1,977.81 km² and is ideal for both short excursions and extended exploratory tours.
