Hullern reservoir
Idyll by the lake
Less well known, but no less beautiful than the Haltern reservoir, is Lake Hullern.
This man-made reservoir with a storage volume of approx. 11 million m³ was finally completed in 1985. Like its big brother, the reservoir is used for water extraction. The resulting idyllic lake is reserved for the quiet relaxation of walkers and cyclists. A circular trail with tranquil viewing points offers impressive views of the lake.
Birdlife also finds its niche here. Throughout the year, and especially in spring, you can make a variety of observations. In addition to cormorants and great crested grebes, geese, tufted ducks, pochards, grey herons and, with a bit of luck, even ospreys can be spotted.
On request, the tourist information office organizes guided tours with an expert guide - an insider tip for nature lovers.
You can reach Lake Hullern from the Heimingshof restaurant or from Stockwieser Damm, the parking lot at the Lakeside Inn, on foot along the Stever.
