100 Castles Route
Historic buildings along the 100 Castles Route
It is the queen of German cycle routes!
The 100 Castles Route runs for around 960 km through the Münsterland region. It connects more than 100 moated castles, fortresses, manor houses and manor farms in the region.
Away from the busy roads, the 100 Castles Route leads through the green parkland of the Münsterland. Meadows, pastures and hedgerows dominate this rather flat landscape. The true treasures of the Münsterland lie right in the middle of it all: (moated) palaces and castles with their imposing gardens and parks bear witness to former times of high nobility.
