Mountain bike circuit "Haard on Tour"
The Haard forest area extends to the south of Haltern am See and is therefore located on the northern edge of the Ruhr region. With a total forest area of around 5,500 hectares, it is the largest closed forest area in this region alongside the Hohe Mark and is therefore an important excursion destination for the local population.
The "Haard on Tour" mountain bike circuit was reopened in 2020 and offers 41 kilometers of challenging trails. In particular, the constant ups and downs and the overcoming of up to 500 meters of altitude require a good level of fitness. Smaller laps can also be created using shortcuts, so that a short after-work lap is also possible. The trail is fully signposted in an anti-clockwise direction. It is advisable to have a good map or digital navigation system with you.
The Haard on Tour MTB route was created by the Ruhr Regional Association with funding from the EU and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. It is freely available to all mountain bikers.
The route was planned and realized as part of the WALDband project "Nature-friendly tourism development in the Haard".

Please note!
The Ruhr Regional Association has created the mountain bike trails and has also drawn up rules of conduct. This is necessary because other users also use the cycling, riding and hiking trails in the Haard.
In the following flyer, which you can easily download, you will find the rules of conduct.
We ask for your understanding.
You can also find information on how to get here in the flyer below or in the portal below.
