Around the Haltern reservoirs
The Haltern reservoir can be reached in just a few minutes by bike from the train station and the view extends to the opposite shore zones. The lake was created artificially in 1930 by damming the Stever and Mühlenbach rivers.
Today, the Haltern reservoir, with an area of around 300 hectares and a reservoir capacity of 20 million m³, ensures the water supply for over 1 million people as well as for industry and commerce in the northern Ruhr area and western Münsterland.
