H 5 - Hills and waterways (21 km)

The Haard forest area and the Wesel-Datteln Canal

The canal side path along the Wesel-Datteln Canal is quickly reached from Haltern am See main station. This 60 km long waterway, which runs parallel to the River Lippe, is one of the busiest shipping canals in Germany and the shortest connection between the Dutch North Sea ports and the Ruhr region.

Wesel-Datteln Canal - Die Haard forest area - Rennberg fire watch tower - Meilerplatz - Flaesheim marina - Flaesheim lock - Lippe ferry Maifisch - Katharinen Chapel - old town.
