Explore the Römer-Lippe route by bike
Roman relics and idyllic landscapes
S A L V E !
Your historical journey begins at the LWL Roman Museum with its important finds from Roman camps on the Lippe. The magnificent Haltern lake district then invites you to take a "taster tour" by bike. An evening tour through the old town will show you numerous sights and give you an insight into the history of the town.
The next day you start your cycle tour along the River Lippe on the main route of the Roman-Lippe Route. Stages include the small Hanseatic town of Dorsten, the village of Schermbeck and the old Hanseatic town of Wesel. The last stage leads to Xanten. The old cathedral, Roman and Siegfried city offers close-up - not only Roman - history.
You start the new day with a morning stroll through the medieval town center of Xanten with its St. Viktor Cathedral. Today's cycle stage takes you around the pearl of the Lower Rhine, Sonsbeck. In the afternoon, take time to visit the archaeological park or relax in the Xanten North and South Seas.
The next day, the return journey starts on the Roman-Lippe route via the Roman and water loops away from the main route back to Haltern am See.
